Data Sets
GIS data is available from many government agencies including the State of South Dakota. SPN has acquired most of this data for South Dakota and is available to either direct you to the data you need or package all of your needed data into one place. SPN also has access to nationwide data if needed. (Limited availability) SPN can also assist in interpreting either this available data or acquiring new data that specifically pertains to your project or company.
 

Data sets available include:

  • Aerial Photography (Color and Black/White)
  • Topographical Maps (USGS Topos)
  • DEM ( Digital Elevation Models)
  • PLSS (Public Survey Data-Sections, Townships)
  • Road Centerline Data (GPS Centerline Data)
  • Flood Data (FEMA Digital Flood Maps)
  • Wetlands (National Wetland Inventory Digital Maps)
  • Hydrography (Lakes, streams and drainages)
  • Soils (Digital Soils Maps)
  • Other Data Sets include: census data, railroad location, and city limits and others.

    Adobe Acrobat Files
    The above documents are available in PDF format. Adobe Systems created this format and offers a free viewer named Adobe Acrobat so that you can view any PDF file. You can easily download the program and install it on your computer. Installation instructions are available at the Adobe Systems Web site.
